1984 Dinner Friday, May 8th, 1-3 pm, ABS 608/609

Sophie Hope will lead a research seminar/workshop around her current project on art and politics in the year 1984 opening up the project to questions from the room. The project involves a series of dinners in Singapore, Australia and South Africa with people active politically and artistically in the year 1984 to explore creative and multiple narratives of a time and place. Hope writes that the dinners aim to explore what we can learn from the practices of artist and activists working on the margins of institutionalised culture during the Tory government of the 1980s in a different era of conservative politics.
